Galatasaray has confirmed that striker Victor Osimhen has resumed light training after undergoing surgery for a fractured right forearm. The 27-year-old has begun indoor gym-based sessions as part of a monitored rehabilitation plan, a positive step in his recovery from the injury sustained in March.
Osimhen suffered the fracture during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg against Liverpool. He played through the pain in the first half before he was withdrawn at halftime when the swelling prompted further assessment. Post-match scans confirmed the break and he underwent a successful surgery in Istanbul shortly afterward. This was reported around March 23, 2026.
The initial timetable set the absence at four to six weeks, with Osimhen himself citing a maximum of six weeks. The club’s plan called for roughly four weeks of healing and rest followed by about two weeks of individual training before reintegration into the full squad. He has now completed the early post-surgery phase and moved into controlled indoor work under the club’s medical team, with a protective splint likely to be used when he returns to full training or match action.
As of April 1, 2026, Osimhen is not yet taking part in on-pitch first-team sessions, but Galatasaray describes the development as encouraging. No definitive return date has been set, though reports have mentioned a possible comeback in late April, with the high-profile Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, 2026 cited as a potential target if rehabilitation stays on track.
The update offers a boost for Galatasaray as they approach the closing stages of the Turkish Super Lig and any remaining European commitments. Osimhen had been a key performer this season, contributing important goals in both domestic competition and the Champions League before the injury.
