Nigerian street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, and social media personality Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), have sparked a heated online controversy that has gripped fans. The trending dispute, which erupted on July 22, 2025, centers on VDM’s allegations of theft against Portable, leading to a fiery exchange of diss tracks and personal jabs.

The feud kicked off when Portable criticized VDM for his ongoing critiques of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly regarding Nigeria’s economic struggles and insecurity. In an Instagram video, Portable suggested VDM’s lavish lifestyle emerged under Tinubu’s presidency. VDM hit back with a diss track titled “Ole” (Yoruba for “thief”), accusing Portable of stealing a tricycle (Keke) in a 2020 incident, supported by an old video he shared online.

Portable quickly responded with his own diss track, vehemently denying the theft allegations and countering with insults, accusing VDM of being “gay” and mocking his family. He clarified that the 2020 incident stemmed from a misunderstanding with his former label, Destiny Records, over a phone he was given, which was forcibly retrieved after he left the label.

The escalating clash has fueled widespread online buzz, with fans divided over the drama. Some admire VDM’s boldness, while others applaud Portable’s swift musical rebuttal, highlighting his knack for turning controversies into hits.
