Kendrick Lamar capped off a historic night at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards by winning Record of the Year for “Luther” with SZA, propelling him past Jay-Z to become the most-awarded hip-hop artist in Grammy history with 27 total wins. His victory marked a remarkable milestone for rap at music’s biggest night. In addition to Record of the Year, Kendrick’s GNX secured Best Rap Album, “tv off” featuring Lefty Gunplay won Best Rap Song, and “Chains & Whips” (with Clipse, Pusha T, Malice and Pharrell) earned Best Rap Performance, among his five total wins for the evening.
For the second year in a row, Kendrick walked away with the Grammys’ top trophy underscoring his ongoing cultural relevance and artistic evolution. “Luther”, co-produced by Jack Antonoff, Sounwave and others, showcased the genre’s rich musicality and collaborative spirit.
